I’m Michael McDonald, and I run Moonshot Media. I run Facebook and Instagram ads for two kinds of businesses: local shops and services that do good work but are hard to find online, and online brands whose ads aren’t running — or aren’t returning what they should. The ad budget comes out of my pocket — starting with $50 of my own money. You pay nothing: no ad spend, no setup fee, no retainer. My only income is 10% of the profit the ads produce, charged only when they produce it. You keep the other 90% — and if the ads don’t profit, you’ve lost nothing. I eat the ad cost.
people open Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or Messenger every day (Meta, Q2 2026).
Why Meta, and not somewhere else? I run ads on Meta because that’s where the audience is. No billboard or flyer reaches your customers as often, or lets you target the people most likely to buy as precisely. Reach at this scale is what makes the economics of advertising work for a small business — and it’s why I do this on Meta instead of anywhere else.
Your next customer is on one of these apps today. The question is whether they see you, or a competitor.
How it works
Three steps. You stay on the work; I handle the ads.
Step 1
Free 15-min look
We look at your business, your area, and who your best customer is. I’ll tell you plainly whether ads make sense for you, and what a realistic first test looks like. There’s nothing to pay to find out: I put up the ad budget — you put up $0.

Step 2
I build and launch
Offer, ad copy, images, and targeting — around your service area if you’re local, or wherever your buyers are if you sell online — plus a simple way for customers to reach you or buy. You approve everything before I spend a dollar of my money. Then we launch.
You approve everything
Step 3
You profit first
Jobs and orders come in, we track what the ads produced, and only then do I take 10% of that profit. You keep 90%.
I get paid last
The math
What would this look like for your business?
Move the sliders to numbers close to your business. This is an illustration, not a promise — it shows how the 90/10 split works. If you sell online rather than book jobs, read “leads” as store visits, “close rate” as your conversion rate, and “job value” as average order value.
Try a scenario:
Paid to Meta out of my pocket — you invest $0. This is the budget I put up.
Share of leads that become paying jobs.
After your costs, before ad spend — be honest here, it drives the split.
Estimated monthly profit from ads*
$1,542
≈ 6 jobs from ads
Revenue the ads produced$5,355
Your profit on it (before ads)$2,142
Minus ad spend (funded by me)− $600
Ad-attributable profit$1,542
You keep: $1,388 (90%)Moonshot Media: $154 (10%)
*Illustration only, using the numbers you entered. In a real engagement we define “profit” together up front — in writing — so there are no surprises. The ad spend is my money, not yours: your cost is $0 either way, and if ad profit is $0, my fee is $0.
Copied.
Who it’s for
Two kinds of businesses. One deal.
Local shops that run on word-of-mouth, and online brands that run on Instagram. Different businesses, same problem: the customers are out there, and the ads aren’t reaching them yet.
Trades & local services

You serve customers in your own local market
Most of your jobs come from word-of-mouth, with little or no online presence
You can take on more jobs if the phone rings more
You’d rather risk $0 than hand an agency a retainer and hope
You sell online — a real store behind the Instagram account
You have an audience (roughly 5k–500k followers) but ads aren’t running, or aren’t returning what they should
You don’t need to be nearby — if you sell online, we can work together wherever your customers are
Same deal: you pay $0 and I fund the ads — then 10% of the profit when they profit, and you keep 90%
When it’s not a fit
You need guaranteed results overnight — ads are a test first, then a scale-up
You can’t take on new work right now — or your store can’t handle more orders
You won’t track where jobs or orders came from — we need that to measure profit fairly
You need a full-time, in-house marketing team — this is a focused ads partnership, not a department
Not sure which side you’re on? That’s what the free 15-min look is for. I’ll tell you if it’s not a fit.
What I do
Everything behind the ad, handled.
Offer & targeting
A clear offer for your best service or product, aimed at customers in your service area — or at buyers wherever you sell online. Not the whole internet; the people who buy.
Ad copy & creative
Headlines, copy, and images written to sound like your business, for Facebook and Instagram — and approved by you before anything runs.
Lead capture & sales path
A simple path from “interested” to a job or an order: click-to-call, message, or a short form for local shops — straight to your product page for online brands.
Tracking & reporting
Plain-English updates: spend, leads or orders, revenue, and profit. The 10% is never a mystery — it’s math we can both see.
FAQ
Questions owners ask before we start
What counts as “profit” for the 10%?
We agree on it in writing before we launch: revenue from jobs that came from the ads, minus your job costs and the ad spend (which comes out of my pocket). Only that leftover profit is split 90/10. No profit from the ads means no fee to me. No vague definitions, no surprises.
What does it cost me?
Nothing. Your cost is $0 — no ad spend, no setup fee, no monthly retainer. I fund the ads myself, starting with $50 of my own money. My only income is 10% of the profit the ads produce, and only when they produce it — the other 90% is yours.
What if the ads don’t work?
Then I don’t get paid, and you’re out nothing — the ad spend was my money, so I eat the cost. We’ll know quickly from the first test whether there’s something to scale, and I won’t keep spending my own money on an ad that isn’t producing.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No. We start with a test, prove it in the numbers, and continue only while it’s making you money. The terms go in a simple written agreement so expectations are clear on both sides.
I have no website and barely any online presence. Is that a problem?
No — that describes most of the local businesses I talk to. We can run ads to your Facebook page, phone number, or a simple lead form while you have no website at all. A website helps later; it isn’t required to start getting calls.
I sell online, not local. Does this work for me?
Yes — that’s the second half of what I do. If you have an Instagram audience and a store, the deal is identical: you pay nothing, I fund the ads, and I take 10% of the ad-attributable profit only when the ads produce it — you keep 90%. We define “profit” together in writing first — revenue from ad-driven orders, minus product costs and ad spend. You don’t need to be nearby; everything runs over DM and short calls.
I’m already running Meta ads. Why switch?
Maybe you shouldn’t — if your ads are clearly profitable and tracked, keep going. But if you’re spending without knowing exactly which profit the ads created, that’s the gap I work in: every dollar tracked to orders, profit defined up front, and my pay tied to the result instead of a retainer you owe either way.
The one condition
Here’s the catch.
My work is free until it’s profitable — and the ads are on me too: I’m putting up my own money, starting with $50, so I only work with owners who’ll give me 15 minutes. I don’t take on everyone. There’s no application fee and no retainer standing between us. The only requirement is 15 minutes of your time.
The price: 15 honest minutes
Sit with me for 15 minutes and look at your business directly — where your jobs actually come from, what one is worth, and whether you could handle more of them. No pitch deck, no pressure. Just your real numbers, looked at honestly.
What those 15 minutes tell me
You can spare 15 minutes for your own business
You’ll look at the numbers honestly — even the uncomfortable ones
You can actually take on more work if the phone rings
If you can’t spare 15 minutes for your own business, we’re not a fit — and that’s fine. If you can, the work starts free, the ads run on my money, and it all stays at $0 to you until it makes you money. That’s the whole gate.
I started Moonshot Media after meeting owner after owner who was booked solid on referrals — very good at the work — and invisible to the next customer searching on their phone. I saw the same thing online: brands with real followings and good products, leaving sales on the table because their ads weren’t running, or weren’t tracked. Most agencies want a retainer before they’ve proven anything. I’d rather prove it first and earn 10% of the result.
When you book the free look, you talk to me — not a salesperson. I’m building this one client at a time.
